Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

⭐️ Best Overall and Best Value Resort

Walking into Disney’s Art of Animation Resort felt like stepping directly into our favorite Disney/Pixar movies – a dream come true for my family. Each area of the resort was a new adventure; my kids’ faces lit up with joy with every character they recognized from “The Little Mermaid,” “The Lion King,” “Finding Nemo,” to “Cars.”

Reviews:

  • “Staying at the Art of Animation Resort with my kids was like being in a Disney park 24/7.”
  • “The family suites are great for larger families. With two bathrooms in our suite, getting ready in the morning or winding down at night was a breeze for our family of six.”
  • “The Skyliner made it so much easier to travel to the parks!”

From the moment you step in, you’re surrounded by larger-than-life characters from beloved Disney and Pixar films. And the best part is that it doesn’t just stop outside! The themed rooms are decorated from floor to ceiling, making you feel like you’re at Disney and not just a hotel.

Plus, this resort is one of the dog-friendly resorts in Disney so everyone in the family can enjoy the vacation!

Disney’s Pop Century Resort

⭐️ Runner-Up Value Resort

Staying at Pop Century was a game-changer for our family vacation! We managed to stick to our budget without having to sacrifice any of the magical experiences we’d been dreaming of.
Pop Century is a great choice for those who don’t need a family suite and/or will be in the parks most of the time!

Reviews:

  • “Excellent hotel for value! We absolutely loved the the Skyliner access! The Skyliner made it so much easier to get to the parks.”

Pop Century Resort is the perfect balance of cost and convenience, striking a sweet spot that’s less pricey than Art of Animation yet offers more unique perks, like access to the Skyliner, making it a superior choice compared to the All-Star Resorts. (Yes, it’s worth the extra money.)
If you’re debating on whether to stay at a value resort or a moderate resort, I would go ahead and choose the value resort option. Unless there are certain amenities that you are looking forward to at the moderate resort.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter

⭐️ Best Moderate Resort

The Port Orleans-French Quarter is great for those who are looking for a small and quiet resort. After a fun-filled time at the parks, there’s nothing quite like knowing your room is just a few steps away from the bus station. And the Mickey beignets are a must-try! Trust us, it’s an exclusive treat that will make your stay memorable.

However, I have to point out that the resort is quite large, which can make transportation a bit of a hassle. I would say that this resort is a great option for those who will spend more days at the resort than at the parks.

Make sure to book a preferred room that’s close to transportation. It’s definitely worth the extra cost!

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

⭐️ Best Deluxe Resort

Disney’s Beach Club Resort is a true gem. With Stormalong Bay being one of the best Disney resort pool complexes—it’s so good, that my kids would have happily spent our entire vacation floating on the lazy river and building sand castles at the sandy beach area.

What to Look For in the Best Disney Resort for Kids

If you’re planning the perfect Disney vacation for your kids, choosing the right resort can make all the difference. Here are some things to look at when finding the best Disney resort:

Theming

Theming is like the secret sauce that transforms a great Disney vacation into an extraordinary one.
Younger kids might prefer resorts with stronger Disney-theming that brings their favorite stories to life. For instance, the Art of Animation Resort features larger-than-life characters from popular Disney and Pixar movies.
Older kids might prefer more subtle theming but still want the Disney magic infused throughout their stay. The Beach Club Resort offers a sophisticated beach vacation with subtle nods to Disney.

Dining Options

Another important factor to consider when choosing the best Disney resort for kids is dining options. After all, a magical vacation isn’t complete without delicious food! Look for resorts that offer a variety of dining options to cater to different taste buds and preferences. Some resorts even have character dining experiences where your little ones can meet their favorite Disney characters while enjoying a meal.

Transportation/Location

Easy access to the parks is key. I would highly recommend staying at a resort that has multiple transportation options to the parks, especially for those who will be in the parks most of the time. Some resorts offer bus, boat, or monorail transportation, making it easy to get around without the hassle of driving or parking.
Additionally, choosing a resort that is close to your favorite parks can save time and energy, allowing you and your family to maximize your Disney experience. Consider which parks and attractions your family wants to visit the most and choose a resort that is conveniently located nearby.

Pool and Play Areas

Many of the Disney resorts offer fantastic pools with waterslides, splash areas, and even themed activities. This provides a fun and relaxing break from the parks, allowing for some family bonding time while enjoying the resort’s amenities.

Some resorts also have playgrounds and sports courts, offering even more opportunities for kids to stay active and entertained.

However, it’s important to note that value resorts, such as Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort, do not have waterslides.

Room

Each resort has different types of rooms available, so consider the size and layout of the room you’ll need for your family. Some rooms can accommodate up to five people, making them ideal for larger families or groups traveling together. Additionally, some resorts offer suites with separate bedrooms and living areas, providing more space and privacy for families. It’s essential to choose a room that will comfortably fit everyone in your party and provide enough space to relax and unwind after a busy day at the parks.

How we reviewed these

These selections are based on our experiences and research to determine how well a Disney resort meets the needs. We also get feedback from families who have stayed at the resorts!

FAQ

Can I request a crib or extra bed in my room?

Cribs and Playpens
Yes, most Disney resorts offer complimentary cribs and playpens. Make sure to request these accommodations when booking your room. Note that cribs are available on a first-come, first-served basis so be sure to make your request as early as possible.
Rollaway Beds
Rollaway beds are offered on a request basis and may not be available in all Disney Resorts.
At select Disney Resort Hotels, guests may find rollaway beds available upon request, though it’s important to note that not every hotel or room type offers this option due to various factors like room size or layout.
Note that adding extra bedding, whether rollaway beds or air mattresses, cannot exceed the room’s maximum occupancy limit.
Consider booking a family suite or 5th sleeper rooms for larger family groups, as these accommodations can provide extra space and bedding options.

What type of kid-friendly amenities does Disney Resorts offer?

Each Disney resort offers a range of kid-friendly amenities, including pools, playgrounds, sports courts, and character dining experiences. Some resorts offer recreation such as movies under the stars and campfire activities!
Be sure to check the specific resort’s offerings before booking to find one that best fits your family’s needs and preferences.

Do all Disney Resorts have fridges and microwaves in the room?

Most Disney Resort Hotel rooms come equipped with either a mini fridge or a beverage cooler.
If your room doesn’t have one, you can call housekeeping to request one!
Now, onto the topic of microwaves. Most rooms do not have one in the room. Guests are welcome to use the communal microwaves located in the food courts of their resort.
However, for families who prefer the convenience of in-room microwaving, certain resorts do have microwaves available in their accommodations. Here’s a quick rundown:
